PARENTS and staff combine to ensure a high standard of care for children at Tops Musgrove day nursery in Taunton, according to the findings of an inspection.

Tops was awarded a 'good' rating in its Ofsted report, which concluded that it delivers quality and caring provision that meets the youngsters' needs and prepares them for the next stage of their learning.

The Ofsted inspector said: "The effective key-person system ensures children are happy and feel secure.

"Staff work closely with parents to ensure children's transition to the next room is smooth.

"Children, including babies, have daily opportunities to be outdoors and use good resources.”

The high standard of care has not gone unnoticed by many parents with children attending the nursery.

The inspector added: “Staff exchange good information with parents. Parents comment positively on how their strong partnerships support their children's learning at nursery and at home.”

Cheryl Hadland, managing director of Tops Day Nurseries, said: “We are delighted to receive this good rating from Ofsted for Tops Musgrove.

"The rating comes at an exciting time for Tops Musgrove as we welcome Abi Mouton as the new nursery manager.

"Abi recently returned to the nursery from maternity leave and in her short time back leading the team she has made significant changes to the activities and processes in place.

"I’m pleased that she and her team have been rewarded for their hard work with this result.”

Tops Musgrove caters for children from three months old up to pre-school age, and five to 11-year-olds in the Mini Beasts Play Club.

The nursery is part of the group of 17 Tops Day Nurseries in the South West and South Wales and provides childcare facilities for working families and staff at Musgrove Park Hospital.
