A NUMBER of trees have reportedly fallen down across Somerset in last night's strong winds.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service confirmed shortly after 8.30pm yesterday that they had received a number of calls with regards to trees falling down.

These reports spread across the whole Devon and Somerset area.

It is not yet know if any damage has occured or if anyone has been injured. 

Fire service were called to a tree which had fallen across the road on Ford Road in Wiveliscombe.

A fire engine were called and after attending apssed the scene onto Avon and Somerset police.

A second call out came after a member of the public voiced concerns about that metal sheeting on the roof of Classic Cinema in Penel Orlieu, Bridgwater.

An aerial appliance was used to inspect the roofing and it was deemed safe. The property owners were advised that the roof may need some work.

Two different sections of tree also came down near to Tesco on Castle Way in Taunton.

On section of tree on the edge of the Tesco carpark fell outside the supermarket's grounds and blocked a pathway.

A second large section of tree behind Tesco fell into part of the river Tone.
