THE star set to host this year’s Somerset Business Awards has been announced as Alex Lovell.

Best known as the lead female presenter on BBC Points West, the national television personality has also starred in The Bill, Casualty and BrainTeaser.

The awards ceremony is set to be held on Friday, October 21, at Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton.

Alex said: “I’m really delighted to have been asked to host the Somerset Business Awards. It’s really important to recognise best practise, innovation and ambition in new and established businesses. Who doesn’t love positive feedback and recognition? It’s a joy to be part of such a celebratory event.”

As a familiar face across the nation’s TV screens, Alex will host this year’s awards evening with an anticipated audience of 400 VIP guests, announcing each winner of the 14 Award categories.

Jenn Chidley-Sanders, organiser and member services manager at the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said: “Alex is a well-known presenter and the perfect host to ensure this year’s Somerset Business Awards are the best yet.

“The awards evening is a time of celebration and success, and we are confident Alex will share our passion throughout the event. The Somerset Business Awards are open for entries until the August 22, so we look forward to another record-breaking year.”

The SBA, which is in its 12th year, opened to entries on June 1, and potential winners have less than six weeks left before the deadline.
