IN JUST a few days, thousands of music fans will descend on Vivary Park to raise awareness and funds for St. Margaret’s Hospice.
Status Quo, Will Young and Jools Holland will take to the stage for Somerset Rocks, this weekend (August 26-28).
Status Quo will kick-off the three-evening music event on Friday August 26, with a sell-out show.
Will Young with special guests Philippa Hanna and Scouting for Girls will perform on Saturday night, with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra along with guests, Red Sky July, bringing the much-anticipated weekend of live music to a close on Sunday.
Carlie Davidson of LCC Live, the concert promoter, said: “Excitement is building in Taunton ahead of Somerset Rocks, which will offer three evenings of live music from a mix of legendary UK artists.
"With just days to go until the shows, we have a full team on site transforming Vivary Park into an outdoor music arena.
“The response we’ve had to each of the shows has been phenomenal and we’re delighted with ticket sales.
"Status Quo’s show is sold out and just a small allocation of tickets remain for Will Young and Jools Holland.
"For those who have got a ticket; the shows are going to be great, and for those of you who don’t, you’d best be quick as tickets are selling strongly.”
Ahead of the music event, which is being hosted to raise awareness and funds for St. Margaret’s Hospice, the event organiser, LCC Live has issued guidance to ensure that concert goers enjoy each of the shows.
Gates for each show will open at 6pm and further information about travelling to and from the outdoor venue, parking on arrival, security and refreshments can be found at: www.somersetrocks.co.uk or www.st-margarets-hospice.org.uk.
Carlie added: “We would encourage concert goers to arrive in plenty of time to get parked and through security before the shows start.
"Gates open at 6pm each evening.”
Somerset Rocks is being hosted by LCC Live in partnership with St. Margaret’s Hospice to help raise awareness of the vital end of life care that St. Margaret’s delivers across Somerset.
Each year the hospice cares for over 3,200 patients with life-limiting illnesses in Somerset, for which it must fundraise £7.5 million each year.
Ann Lee, Chief Executive of St. Margaret’s Hospice, said: “Taunton is buzzing with a real sense of excitement as the town gets ready to welcome an eclectic mix of artists, who will undoubtedly, each put on a great show under the stars in Vivary Park.

Councillor Mark Edwards, Deputy Leader of Taunton Deane Borough Council and Chair of Taunton Events Group, said: “Our staff work extremely hard to ensure the park is looking its best for residents and visitors.
"It will provide a stunning backdrop for a fantastic weekend of music featuring some of the biggest names in the business.
