PEOPLE from Wellington who want to give their furniture a new lease of life can learn how to do so from an expert during masterclasses next month.

The Emporium Somerset’s co-owner, Cato Cooper, is running furniture painting workshops using Autentico Chalk Paint on October 5 and 20 from 7.30pm until 9.45pm.

She said: “If anyone has any tired looking furniture in their home that they wish to update they should come along to my Introduction to Autentico Chalk Paint workshops where they can learn firsthand basic techniques of using the special paints and waxes.

“We are one of the biggest stockists of Autentico Chalk Paint in the South West.

"It is water based, free of solvents and other harmful additives and is my choice of paint when it comes to making over my own furniture at home and in the shop.

“I will teach attendees how to paint their piece of furniture from start to finish with useful handouts and tips included.

"I will provide wooden boards with some detailing so that attendees can try out the different paints and we will cover distressing techniques as well as layering. Everyone who comes along will then be able to take their new skills home with them and makeover their furniture at home.”

The workshops will cost £40 per person.

The price includes all of the equipment needed such as paints, brushes, boards to paint, waxes, an apron, gloves, refreshments and a picture frame to paint and take home.

To book, please call Cato on 01823 660076.

Cato added: “Anyone can come along as no experience is needed. They are fun and creative workshops and everyone who attends will receive a 10 per cent discount on paint products.”

There are more than 155 colours of Autentico Chalk Paint available in the Vintage, Velvet and Eggshell ranges.

Cato has her own painted furniture and home accessories studio and workshop at the front of the Emporium, as well as running the whole store, which includes 40 plus shops and thousands of lovely homeware and gift items, many made nearby.

The furniture painting workshops will take place on Wednesday, October 5 and Thursday, October 20 from 7.30pm until 9.45pm at The Emporium Somerset on Mantle Street in Wellington.
