HUNDREDS of families got active during a special event.

Around 600 youngsters, from tots to teenagers, took part in the Active Somerset Annual Kids Free Play Event at Curry Rivel Primary School on September 17.

And chairman of Active Somerset, Kaye Morgan, said the event was a great success.

“I was delighted at the turnout considering there were other activities going on locally,” she said. “Everyone had a great time.

“This year I was able to raise enough money to hire a professional face painter and balloon modeller and the queues were endless.

“Along with the many activities including the climbing wall, Bugfest and obstacle course, friends in Drayton kindly built and ran splat the rat – the kids loved it.

“I would like to thank Simon Champion who worked really hard erecting and dismantling the marquee, delivering tables to the site and sorting out the electrics.”

Active Somerset works with community groups to give people the chance to take part in a range of activities throughout the year.
