A NEW water sports facility in Taunton is hosting an open afternoon. 

French Weir Park's newest addition, the Centre for Outdoor Activity and Community Hub, will open its doors to the area's businesses and schools to give a first-look into the new facilities.

From 3.45pm on Thursday, October 20, visitors can look around the facilities and even get involved in the sports available.

Dave Bullock, trustee, said: "We would like to invite any businesses, head teachers or teachers interested in potentially using the facility to a meeting on Thursday at COACH.

"For those wanting to join in on the river please wear old clothes and something on your feet that you don’t mind getting wet – and a towel.

"This is an exciting new facility which I am sure will have a big impact."

The centre plans to officially launch in May 2017 and hopes to create as much buzz for the facility as possible.

The trustees raised more than £920,000 to create the facility and hope the entire community will get involved to enjoy it.
