POP idol Olly Murs has announced an outdoor concert at historic Powderham Castle, near Exeter.

The popular singer-songwriter is one of British music’s biggest stars with record sales exceeding 10 million.

He played a sell-out show to more than 20,000 people at the venue in 2013.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, December 2 for the concert which will take place on Saturday, July 29 2017.

Thousands of fans are expected to descend on the venue – home of the Earl and Countess of Devon – for the event.

Olly this month scored an amazing fourth consecutive number one album with his latest, most personal offering 24 Hrs.

New single ‘Years and Years’ is the new album’s centrepiece; an expansive, explosive, spine-tingling belter and follows the radio favourites ‘You Don’t Know Love’ and ‘Grow Up’ which Olly recently performed on the X Factor.

His other top singles include Dance With Me Tonight, Troublemaker, Heart Skips A Beat and Dear Darlin’.

Olly said: “I’m so pleased to be returning to Powderham.

"Devon is one of my favourite places and an outdoor gig at a historic home is always something very special.

“I’m also glad to give fans in the West Country a chance to see the show – which I can assure them is spectacular.”

Olly’s special guests, his support act, are still to be announced.

The heartthrob shot to fame on the X Factor in 2009 finishing second to Joe McElderry with Stacey Solomon third.

His varied career to date has included his own TV shows, presenting the X Factor and Xtra Factor, being appointed an FA ambassador, hosting sports shows and videos, writing books and spending five nights in the Kenyan desert for charity.

Last summer he performed to 65,000 people in Hyde Park as a guest of Take That, further confirming his reputation as one of Britain’s very best live performers.

Charlie Courtenay, the Earl of Devon, said: “Powderham is thrilled to welcome Olly Murs back to Devon. Olly was a great success here in 2013, and we expect his return to be even better.

“We are pleased to be able to build upon the remarkable summer of music in 2016, and with Olly on board, 2017 is looking even better.”
