A SCOTTISH-based animal welfare organisation is looking to support two Somerset-based schemes.

The Purple Saltire Association (PSA) has recently been relaunched with seven projects, two of them are based at the RSPCA animal centre in West Hatch.

It is now looking for people in Somerset to support the two causes, Somerset Seals Salute Scotland and A Feast Fit For A Ferret.

Sue Campbell, of the PSA president, said: “The annual subscriptions and donations are used to purchase veterinary supplies and food for these wonderful creatures who through no fault of their own find themselves distressed and in need of assistance.”

The seals scheme aims to help creatures like Spectre, who was found very subdued and coughing badly, at half the weight it should have been.

The PSA has donated three pairs of Fortress Bib-n-Brace trousers and two 400 four-hundred millilitre syringes to facilitate the handling of the seal pups.

The PSA also aims to stamp out all forms of animal abuse, and encourages folk to adopt a cruelty free lifestyle.
