A BMX-mad teenager's dream bike was stolen just two days after he received it as a surprise Christmas present.

The distinctive £250 Madmain Mafia BMX, which is only available online, was taken from outside the house of a friend the 15-year-old boy had walked home as a favour.

The victim's mother, Jenny Bishop, said: "If anyone has any information regarding this bike, please come forward.

"It is unique and is not found in high street shops, and therefore easy to identify if someone tries to sell it.

"The bike is all we are interested in and just want it returned."

The boy, who does not want to be named, had only ridden the bike a couple of miles before cycling to a party in the Blackbrook area of Taunton.

"Afterwards, he left and walked someone home to Roman Road at around 11.30pm," said single mum Ms Bishop.

"He was inside the house for literally one minute and when he came out the bike had gone.

" I think someone must have been following him or an opportunist.

"He was just gobsmacked and phoned me to say, 'Sorry, my bike's been stolen'.

"I phoned police who have said they'll file it and hopefully it will turn up."

The boy had no idea he was getting the bike until Christmas Day as his mother had hidden it at her parents' house.

"It was a lovely surprise, but now it looks like someone's stolen it, probably to sell for next to nothing so they can buy drugs," said his mum.

"I've been round the skate parks in the area looking for it and asking the boys to look out for it."

Anyone with any information about the bike should contact Ms Bishop on 07725-668347 or call Taunton Police on 101.
