A TAUNTON-BASED charity is looking forward to finally opening its new service after a number of setbacks.

Compass Disability Services will be opening Compass Wellbeing on the Belvedere Trading Estate on Saturday, January 21.

The facility aims to support the health and wellbeing of its community and in turn preventing people accessing more expensive services.

It was due to open at the end of last year, however it this has to be delayed due to a break-in and theft of a number of items, and a major gas leak on the site.

The centre has a large sensory suite, hydropool, and two large activity rooms, which are all linked by the community café.

It will provide a range of activities and courses to the whole community from parents and babies through to reducing isolation for older people. The facility has been created through support from local and national grant making organisations along with some of Compass Disability Services’ own reserves and a loan from the Somerset Social Enterprise Fund.

The centre is being officially opened by the Mayor of Taunton on Saturday and will be open seven days a week (except Bank Holidays).
