A NEW nursery has opened in Monkton Heathfield.
Little Herons, the on-site nursery for West Monkton Primary School, opened its doors on the same day as the new school building on Monday, January 9.
The nursery holds places for 52 children and the facility features a main playroom and an outdoor area.
Gemma Maxwell, manager of the nursery, said: “The philosophy of the setting is to provide a continuous, free-flow provision where every child is unique and where they feel safe and secure, while becoming confident, self-motivated, independent learners through their play.
“The nursery practitioners work closely alongside parents and other child care professionals.
“Working in partnership is essential to the well-being and development of children and we are very proud of what we have created.”
The Nursery’s learning and development is over seen by Martine Laurie, a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE in Early Years Specialism.
