SOME people weren't phased by the unlucky atmosphere surrounding Friday the 13th as they head down to get a new tattoo for charity.

The Nautilus Tattoo Company, on Bath Place in Taunton, hosted the event for the second time this year to raise money for three different causes.

The team managed to complete 123 tattoos which they charged £13 each for, raising £1,599 for charity.

The three artists picked a different charity each. Ben Evans, Stuart Hamer and Megan Russell chose Musgrove Park Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit, Sea Shepherd, and CLIC Sargent to benefit from the event.

The day kicked off at 10am and the team worked into the early hours of the morning to get everyone who wanted one a new tattoo.

Howard Vidler, director, said: "We would like to thank each and every person who took part, from the customers, the suppliers of food and drink to keep everyone going, to the friends and family who helped out with the huge task of organising and helping to ensure everything ran as smoothly as possible, the event just could not have gone ahead without everyone's support and input which ultimately raised £1599.00 for charity.

"In total 123 tattoos were completed starting at 10am and the last one was completed by Stuart Harmer at 4.30am the next morning.

"The event could not have gone any better, the customers were lining up from 8.30am in the morning to get booked in and the demand was huge."
