AN ACCOUNTANCY firm which has officers across Somerset is celebrating 150 years of business by donating more than £2,800 to St Margaret's Hospice.

Albert Goodman, which has a number of branches including in Taunton, Yeovil, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater, has donated £2,808.25 to the charity.

The money has been raised through a variety of fundraising events including a 10 hour, 150km bike ride, a company-wide Bake Off, charity car washes, a hamper raffle, book sale and 26 days of volunteering work.

The bike ride saw eight staff members cycle to each of the South West offices and alone raised £2,690.

This was split between the law firm's six chosen charities: St Margaret’s Hospice, Julia’s House, Weston Hospice, Gracie Thorne Appeal, Brainwave Centre and Kings College Hospital Liver Transplant Team.

Starting at the firm’s Weymouth office, the team stopped at offices in Yeovil, Chard, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea and Wedmore, before finally crossing the finish line at Weston-super-Mare ten hours later.

Richard Bugler, managing partner at Albert Goodman, said: “I am incredibly proud of each and every member of the Albert Goodman team. Our staff have been giving up their time, effort and money to raise as much as possible for St Margaret’s Hospice.

“It was a truly outstanding effort from all involved, from those who cycled, to those who drove support vehicles and those who arranged bake sales. Reaching 150 years is a huge milestone for us as a firm and this was the perfect way to celebrate.

"It’s been an exciting year at Albert Goodman, as we celebrated 150 years in business, and we look forward to keeping this momentum going into 2017."

To date, the firm has raised £6,859.19 for a selection of charities. Nearly £4,000 was raised through donations to the firm and fundraising events, with £3,000 being matched by the partners at Albert Goodman.
