DOH! The people of Milverton have been having a chuckle at this new road sign in their village.

The pristine sign recently installed at the roadside near the primary school proudly announces the entrance to Huntash Road.

Unfortunately, there is no such place in Milverton - it should have read Huntash Lane.

Parish councillor Trevor Phelps said Taunton Deane Borough Council ordered the sign after a previous one was damaged.

"The new sign has gained a lot of attention because everybody goes up there," said Mr Phelps.

"We're worried they'll be changing the name of the village to Milvertown next."

A Taunton Deane Borough Council spokeswoman said the sign was manufactured incorrectly by a Leicester-based company that often does work for the authority.

She added: "The sign was ordered correctly as Huntash Lane and the paperwork confirms this.

"Unfortunately the sign that was delivered said Huntash Road.

"This was fitted as an interim measure in the absence of any sign. A new sign has been ordered, at no cost to the council, and will be fitted as soon as it arrives.”
