THERE were celebrations all round at a Taunton-based charity as it officially opened its new service after a number of setbacks.

Guests joined staff at Compass Disability Services on Belvedere Trading Estate on Saturday, January 21 for the opening of Compass Wellbeing.

Taunton Deane Mayor Vivienne Stock-Williams was on hand for the grand opening and those who attended were treated to cake and Prosecco.

The facility aims to support the health and wellbeing of its community and in turn preventing people accessing more expensive services.

It was due to open at the end of last year, however it this has to be delayed due to a break-in and theft of a number of items, and a major gas leak on the site.

The centre has a large sensory suite, hydropool, and two large activity rooms, which are all linked by the community café.

It will provide a range of activities and courses to the whole community from parents and babies through to reducing isolation for older people. d a loan from the Somerset Social Enterprise Fund.
