A DAY service for adults with learning disabilities has officially started its newest venture.

Green Days Day Care, a service that runs from a variety of locations across Taunton Deane and West Somerset, has added a new location to the list.

The Green Days retail store officially opened on Taunton’s High Street on Monday morning in order to bring new learning opportunities to its clients.

The store will be run by the service and the clients who wish to volunteer to work at the outlet.

It is hoped the shop will give the volunteers a boost of confidence when dealing with things such as customers, money and responsibility.

Neslee Staple, of Green Days Day Care, said: “The open day was well supported.

“Our very own Drumming and Junk Band played outside so everyone knew where to come.

“We had food, bubbly and an amazing buffet. A brilliant result.”

Somerset County Gazette:

The store will sell arts and crafts and will be used as a platform for artists in the area. Workshops will also be taking place at the store.

The shop is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 3pm offering a range of goods.

Clients who have chosen to volunteer at the shop will gain valuable experience in the retail industry.
