BRIDGWATER College Academy is set to appoint a new headteacher who will start this coming September.

The Bridgwater College Trust board and the local governing body at Bridgwater College Academy have announced that Rachael Fraser will take over the role from Peter Elliott.

Rachael is currently deputy headteacher at the Blue School, in Wells and was previously assistant head teacher at Chilton Trinity School in Bridgwater.

A spokesman for Bridgwater College Trust said: "As a former literacy consultant, Rachael has worked as a lead practitioner with most Secondary schools in Somerset and will no doubt use her broad experience and English teaching background to good effect."

Mrs Fraser said: “I am really looking forward to working with such a positive and optimistic group of students and staff.

"The Bridgwater College Academy is a really special place where dreams are being pursued and students are reaching, with determination, towards bright futures. I am delighted to become part of that.”

Rachael replaces Peter Elliott at Bridgwater College Academy and she will be responsible for all matters at the Academy from September.

She will be assisted by Louise Valeur, who is head of the primary phase and Andy Sandercock, who is head of the secondary phase.
