STUDENTS from a primary school near Wellington collected more than £200 to donate to charity following their nativity play performances.

The pupils used their Christmas show to raise £200.13 for School in a Bag, a scheme organised by the Piers Simon Appeal to collect bags to deliver to vulnerable children around the world.

A cheque was presented to Lis Foy, SIAB school liaison officer at a special school assembly where the children had the opportunity to learn about the work of School in a Bag in 35 countries around the world.

The Year 6 students took photos with their individually numbered bags which enables them to track their bags to different locations.

The school contributed ten bags to the charity.
