LAST summer more 1,000 people flocked to Porlock Hill for the first ever Samphire Festival, and the organisers are appealing for funds to bring it back for a second year.

The independent music and arts festival which was the brainchild of couple Flora Blathwayt and Josh Beauchamp got off to a debut sell-out and picked up Best Small Festival 2016 at the National Outdoor Events Association awards (NOEA).

The festival takes place over a picturesque backdrop overlooking the coast, with this year's event set to take place from July 7-9.

Miss Blathwayt said: "Festivals in the UK take about three or four years to break even and Samphire is no exception.

"This is why we are launching a new crowdfunding campaign like last year to help cover the early costs and enable us to do it again."

To support the festival people can buy a ticket to the festival on their crowdfunding project. The organisers are also looking for sponsors for opportunities such as programmes and lanyards.

"The three day knees-up is an eclectic musical affair with everything from jazz to acid house," Miss Blathwayt added.

"There will also be a selection of weird and wonderful things to see and do including giant human pinball, axe throwing, wild swimming, story telling, yoga, tree climbing and of course lots of samphire foraging."
