PROPERTY company Scotsgrove Holdings Ltd, of Taunton, has donated £1,000 to Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment.

County Gazette-backed SURE, which helps equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, also received £500 from the Moose International Ladies Circle.

Joanne McNulty presented £180, raised from two quizzes and raffles in Chard and £90 collected from family, friends and WI members in Chard.

A collection of 5p coins in a champagne bottle totalled £72.05 from family and friends of the late Sarah Bass, who died in April 2012.

Other 5p collections included £44.20 from Taunton Hard of Hearing Club; £4 from Joyce Kilner; £1.50 from Joyce Hopkins; £1.60 from Jean Knight; £30 from Liz Hector and Mary Chilcott; £7.60 from Jill Wood and friends; There was also £73.80 from the collection pot at the Barleymow Farm Shop and Restaurant and £25 from the sale by auction of donated stamps.

Left at the Beacon Centre was £25 in 5ps from Mrs C. M. Butler, of Taunton, £15 from Mr and Mrs P. A. and G. M. Reid and £148.65 from Julie Dines and Gordon Godfrey, of Langaller, of which £134 was raised by a raffle held at his 60th birthday party and where they also collected £14.65 in 5ps.

And there was £138.28 from the Beacon Centre, including £94.45 in 5ps.

The week's total of £2,356.68 means £676,577.90 has been raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette.
