A MIDDLE-aged Somerset man has been jailed for 21 years after being convicted of sexual offences against three girls.

Peter John Kingdon, 55, was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court today (Wednesday) after admitting 11 charges, including rape, sexual assault and gross indecency.

Kingdon, of Barwick, near Yeovil, committed the offences against his victims when they were aged between five and 15.

Investigating officer DC Stephen Bark said: “Peter Kingdon is a depraved sex offender whose appalling crimes spanned 16 years.

“A police investigation began in February 2015 when one his victims bravely came to Yeovil police station to report the abuse she had suffered.

“Kingdon initially pleaded not guilty in court and maintained this up until the final hearing when he finally changed his plea to guilty.

“I’d like to commend all the victims for the determination and dignity they’ve shown throughout the police investigation and court proceedings.

“I hope this outcome will encourage other victims of rape and sexual assault to have confidence in reporting offences to us, no matter how long ago the crimes occurred.”
