AFTER a nine-hour trip to Gateshead, the students from Haygrove School could be forgiven for not feeling up to bouncing on a trampoline, but their spirits were high as they took their place among the best young trampolinists from across the country.

Year 8 student Jayme Love, who entered in the newly formed Disability Novice competition managed to save her best performances for the prestigious UK-wide championships.

A spokesman for Haygrove School said: "She performed with great confidence, and saved her highest scores for this moment which meant she was crowned National Champion."

Jamye seems to be a talent to keep an eye, as she is also an exceptional sprinter and has broken a number of the school's long-held records.

The U15 girls novice team, consisting of Siana Lukins, Molly Turner, Holly Moule and Ella Smith, had won the earlier rounds of the South West Zonal competition in convincing style.

"There was a mixture of confidence and nervousness among the girls as this was the first time they had competed in a UK-wide competition," the spokesman said.

Siana was the last to take to the floor and when the scores were announced the team were able to celebrate after earning themselves two bronze medals, one as a team and one for Siana's individual performance.

Haygrove also took an Under 19 girls novice team featuring Abi Grant, Charley Rooke, Molly Pickles and Ella O-Grady, who did themselves proud.

Competing against a strong field of talented trampolinists from all over the country the girls managed to clinch fifth place in the team event with Abi Grant taking home seventh in the individual event.
