A POPULAR pub has closed, causing neighbours a potential parking headache.

The Rose and Crown, at East Lyng, which is on the market for £200,000, has been boarded up and the car park fenced off since the tenants left on Saturday.

Kerry Miller, who lives opposite, said villagers had been allowed to park on the site for the last 30 years thanks to permission from the various landlords.

He added: "It means the cars will have to be parked on the main road now, which i narrow, has no footpaths and is unlit."

Mr Miller said villagers hope that 300-year-old listed pub will re-open, although there are fears it could be turned into a home.

A spokesman from owner Devizes-based Wadworth said: "We can confirm that the Rose and Crown is currently on the market to be sold, with the closure of the building and surrounding land following all standard procedures.

"We wish to thank all those that have visited the pub for their custom.”
