BBC television reporter Clinton Rogers will be swapping camera and script for a guitar when he and his brother take to the stage at the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater in July

Clint and his brother Stan recreate the music of the famous Everly Brothers after establishing a tribute act to 'two of our favourite musicians'.

They call themselves Cleverly Everly and they will appear at the McMillan on Saturday, July 15.

For the past three years they have played to club audiences across the West – but this will be their biggest gig.

“It’s pretty scary if I’m honest,” Clint said. “We are hugely looking forward to playing the theatre but I’d be lying if I didn’t say there were more than a few nerves!”

The brothers have spent more than three decades playing in various bands in Somerset, but rarely together.

“I suddenly thought it was time for the two of us to get together and do something as a duo,” said Clint, who works as a reporter for BBC Points West.

“The Everlys sprung to mind because they are two of our favourite musicians and their repertoire is vast. Wake Up little Susie, Dream, Cathy’s Clown... the list is endless and they are great singalong numbers.”

Stan, who recently retired from the Hydrographic Office in Taunton, added: “We have some musical friends who join us in the second half of our show bringing an extra flavour of music from the sixties.

"It was such a rich time in music history and we’re having great fun playing the numbers.

“It’s a feel good show – with a bit of sixties comedy thrown in. We just want people to leave with a smile on their face.”
