A TAUNTON man who once stood in the General Election in Taunton Deane was kicked off the BBC's Question Time programme for repeated heckling and abusive remarks.

Host David Dimbleby told Steve German on yesterday evening's programme from Plymouth: "I think you ought to leave, you know."

Mr German tried to shout down Remainer Gina Millar, calling her a Tory, and other panellists and referred to Theresa May as "a zombie prime minister".

There was widespread cheering and applause and members of the audience got to their feet as Mr German left the studio amid what is being labelled 'Quexit'.

Twitter was awash with comments condemning Mr German as "an annoying, noisy guy" and poking fun at his "Twister mat shirt".

Mr German came in last in the 2015 General Election in Taunton Deane, when he stood for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Party, polling just 118 votes.

The County Gazette has tried to contact Mr German today (Friday) and left a message asking him to call us.
