Visitors to the North Devon Show are set to get a pig masterclass from Kim Brook, who will be showcasing many different breeds of pigs that can be found in Great Britain, from rare to native, with one of two that will captivate onlookers, on August 2.

The Pig Tent will provide an insight for the public to show all the different breeds of pigs, and they will be able to compare breed to breed under one roof.

From their size, colouration, characteristics and by talking with the breeders the public will be able to glean information about the personality of the breed, temperament, meat quality, size of litters and of course the individual history of the breed.

According to a recent survey by the RBST and BPA, many of our pig breeds are in decline, but this show will help to raise the profile of the category two endangered pigs, which include middle white, large black, British lop and British landrace, and category four at risk pigs including Gloucestershire old spot, Oxford sandy and black, Welsh and British saddlebacks.

Youngsters in attendance will be able to visit the educational corner, where they will also have the chance to learn about different pig breeds.
