A COLLEGE in Taunton has been ranked as the best in the South West based on the latest batch on league tables.

Richard Huish College, was rated as the highest performing college in the region in the latest tables published this month by the Department of Education.

The tables compare the performance of all sixth form, general further education and specialist colleges in the areas of overall achievement, student retention and pass rate percentage.

Principal, John Abbott, said: “At Huish, students are well informed when making their choices of study programme and are guided to choose what suits their talents and strengths.This supports our outstanding achievement rate of 90.1 per cent.

“Achievement measures the percentage of students who complete the subjects they begin, testament to the bespoke advice and guidance we give all students through the application process.

“It’s a credit to the staff and students at Huish that our position as the highest achieving college in the South West is now recognised by the Department for Education with the publication of these league tables.”

The tables show the college’s overall achievement rate is 90.2 per cent.
