HOT on the heels of Glastonbury, another Somerset festival is keen to hear from people who can help make the event a similar success.

Samphire, the award-winning independent music and arts festival held above Porlock, takes place from July 7 to 9 and organisers are looking for some enthusiastic people to help make the event another huge success.

Josh Beauchamp, co-founder of Samphire, said: “Not only do you get a free ticket to our awesome festival but you get to be part of our awesome team.

"Plus, our site is small and intimate so you're never going to be far from the action and there’ll be plenty of time to party and enjoy the music.”

Volunteer roles up for grabs include:

STEWARD TEAM: Friday, July 7 - Sunday, 9 - free ticket for two, seven-hour shifts, including hot food.

MEDICAL TEAM: Friday, July 7 - Sunday, 9 - free ticket for three, seven-hour shifts. Must be a qualified first aider, includes hot food and petrol contribution.

LITTER TEAM: Friday, July 7 - Monday, 10 - free ticket for three, two-hour shifts and five hours on Monday, free coffee/tea and biscuits.

Headlining this years festival are Crazy P, The Correspondents, Resonators, Flamingods, The Langan Band and Felix Dickinson.

The 1,000-capacity party also hosts award-winning street food, giant human snakes and ladders, immersive theatre talks, films, yoga, wild adventures and samphire foraging among other activities.

Organisers have also introduced a new ‘car scheme’ to help people get to the event.

They are calling for people driving to the festival to do their bit for the environment and share the journey with others.

The car-sharing scheme not only helps the planet (and saves pennies on petrol) but it also allows festival goers to channel their inner James Cordon and get involved with ‘Samphire Symphony’ - a mock up of Carpool Karaoke, a segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden in which Corden, the host of the show, invites famous guests to sing along to their songs with him whilst he is driving.

Co founder of the festival, Flora Blathwayt, said: “We love a good roadtrip and we want everyone to have fun on the way to the festival.

"All you’ve got to do is whack on a tune, get your lungs in gear and film yourselves singing your hearts out on the journey down.

"However embarrassing, send it over to us on Facebook (@SamphireFestival), Twitter (@Samphire_Arts), or on Instagram (@Samphire_Festival) and we’ll pick the best Samphire Symphony and give everyone in the car a free ticket to next years festival (we’ll also give you a crate of delicious Orchard Pig on site for your talent)”.

Entries need not be too long (one minute max) and they don’t want any driver’s filming themselves to ensure safety on the road.

To organise a cheap and cheerful lift to the festival, get involved and pop down where you’re driving / where you need a lift on their car share group on facebook via samphirefestival.com/carshare.

Tickets for the festival are still available, via samphirefestival.com.
