BRIDGWATER'S Chameleon Batonettes have had their best ever national championships ever, with no fewer than 11 girls being chosen to represent their country in the European Majorette Championships.

At the national championships in Weston-Super-Mare earlier this month members of Chameleon Batonettes won nine national champion sashes, and three team titles.

The girls will now head to Almere in Holland in October to compete in the European Majorette Championships.

Corp director and choreographer Rachel Boobyer said: "The young members of the team have worked exceptionally hard this year to improve and perfect there routines in the hope of going to Holland which was there ultimate dream.

"I am extremely proud of them all and what they have achieved individually and together as a team.

"The hard work was recognised with us winning most improved corp, alongside most promising under 13 and the personality award."

The girls chosen to represent England are Amy Baker, Abigail Cooper, Emma Dye, Chloe Harding, Summer Head, Faye Martin, Philippa Martin, Chelsea Roberts, Millie Selway, Tazmin Selway and Grace Uppington.

Abigail Cooper is from Highbridge, Faye and Phillipa Martin are from Taunton while the other girls come from Bridgwater.

The club is hosting a raffle to help raise funds to get the girls to the championships. If any companies wish to donate a prize or support, visit the Chameleon Batonettes Facebook page or email racheljmboobyer@hotmail.co.uk.
