WELLINGTON carnival has held its annual queen and princess pageant.

On Sunday, July 16, the pageant was held at Wellington Rugby Club.

Two queens and four princesses were selected to represent the town for the next year.

Organiser, Louise Brierley, said: “We really appreciate the support of Caroline at the rugby club, our compere Angie Filler, our independent judges, Gary James, town mayor and his wife Birgit, as well as the professional photography provided by Caroline and Pete of Unwin photography, all the entrants went home with amazing professional portrait photographs on the day.”

Miss Brierley said thanks was also given to the 2016 queen, Melissa Knell, and princesses Jasmine Coombes and Jenna Faber, for their service.

Co-organiser, Dawn Odgers, said: “Yet again, this was a fabulous event, and the people of Wellington should be proud of the girls chosen to represent the town not only in Wellington, but many other towns as well.

“In addition to their usual royal duties, the girls will also be required to be involved with fund raising initiatives, as well as raising the profile of carnival.

“We will keep them busy, and expect their experiences to be enjoyable.”

Christine Rogers and Lorraine Faber, the new queens, and princesses Jenna Faber, Olivia Millett, Casey Millett and Nikita Faber, will be taking part in Wellington Carnival on September 30.
