A CLASS of year six pupils from Lyngford Park Primary School spent the day with PCSO's from Taunton to learn more about crime.

Four officers from Taunton's police unit visited the school on July 7 and spent the day with the students to teach them about how the law works.

A spokesman for Lyngford Park Primary School said: "The day was to highlight choices and consequences, criminal responsibility, keeping safe and a little about how the law works.

"Whilst the children were receiving an introduction from the PCSOs a member of police staff disguised as a suspicious looking individual crept into the hall and stole a school lap top right before their eyes."

"The children worked in groups to take finger prints, sit in the police van and have a go using riot shields, write witness statements and find out more about keeping safe.

"In the afternoon a court room was set up with children forming a jury, some acting as the defence and prosecution inviting individuals to be cross examined as witnesses referring to their statements.

"By the end of the cross examinations the defendant was found guilty by a 10-2 majority.

"The children were really engaged and well behaved throughout the day and learnt a lot of important and useful information."
