A WOMAN has been detained under the mental health act after two people were stabbed during an incident at Taunton train station.
Officers from British Transport Police cordoned off platform two of the station just before 5pm on Saturday (July 22) after reports that a woman and a man were assaulted.
A woman and a British Transport Police officer were stabbed and taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "A 59 -year-old woman has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act following an incident at Taunton railway station yesterday, Saturday, July 22.
"We were called to the station at 4.50pm following reports that a female had been stabbed.
"An officer who attended and intervened was also stabbed in the leg.
"Both the female and the officer were treated in hospital for their injuries, which are not life threatening."
The 59-year-old woman remains in police custody.
An eyewitness said: "My son was there.
"His friend was stabbed and taken to Musgrove.
"The woman was arrested on the spot due to the fast action of the police."
