A CHARITY shop is re-opening this week ten months after it was gutted by a fire.

Scope, in Bridge Street, Taunton, is appealing for "stock, volunteers and donations" ahead of opening its doors to the public on Friday (August 4).

It was badly damaged in an early hours fire on Sunday, October 2 last year.

Fire crews tackled the blaze after a 999 caller reported smoke billowing from the front and back of the building.

The fire was located in the store room of the two-storey building and was put out using two hose reel jets by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, a thermal image camera and positive pressure ventilation.

The stock in the smoke-blackened premises was ruined in the incident.
