A SIGN has gone up to celebrate a Taunton green space named in honour of a town champion.
The stainless steel sign along with a poem - designed by Will Shakspeare, of Shakspeare Glass - at Pip's Park replaces a glass one that had been damaged.
The riverside Pip’s Park – named in honour of the late Pip Youngman – features a communal space for new flats and offices at Firepool.
The poem on the sign was written by Pip Youngman, a poet and inventor, as well as one of Taunton’s champions.
He inspired Taunton’s 14-mile Space Walk along the Bridgwater to Taunton Canal, a scale model of the solar system centred on the sun at Maunsel Lock.
He was also a staunch supporter plans to regenerate and revitalise the town centre bringing the river and waterways back into focus.
Taunton Deane Borough Council leader Cllr John Williams said: “I am delighted to see that sign back in place at Pip’s Park.
"Pip Youngman was inspirational and shared our vision to regenerate the town and put the river back at the heart of Taunton."
