Drinkers who spend their evenings tagging their mates on Facebook while on nights out could be in for a shock this weekend.

Revellers have long taken advantage of the good-natured staff at JD Wetherspoons pubs who charge their phones when their batteries are fading fast.

But bosses for the chain, which runs several bars across Somerset, have had enough of their cheeky customers.

The chain will be introducing a ban on charging customers’ phones behind their bars, the Metro reports.

Somerset County Gazette:

A J D Wetherspoon spokesman told Metro.co.uk: "The bar itself is busy and we do not want people’s phones there.

"We also do not want the hassle of phones keep being handed over the bar for charging.

"If people wish to charge their phone in the pub, then that would be up to the discretion of the manager."

JD Wetherspoons runs a number of pubs across the country, including the Coal Orchard, in Bridge Street, and the Perkin Warbeck, in East Street, both Taunton.
