THERE is an old adage if the milkman whistles a pop tune then you have a hit single.

For the world of children’s theatre the adage would be if they are talking about the play in the playground and recalling the story then you have a hit.

The later adage is the one taken on board by Little Blue Monster Productions which is responsible for amongst a raft of shows, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet.

This is a very funny tale of a small dog, Biff, who has big dreams.

The story is based on the bestselling children’s book by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie.

What Little Blue Monster Productions have done is taken the book and made it into a musical play which children can watch.

They have stayed faithful to the story but have added scenes with help tell the story and have created a number of songs within the show.

Assistant director, Jeannette Longworth said: “When we first did the show (puppets and live action) the response was so positive.

“It has over the years gone from strength to strength.

“What is great is all the children enjoy the show as they love puppets and like being involved in role play.

“The star of the show is Biff and they can relate to his story.

“He is always being told Dogs Don’t Do Ballet and when the children hear this they shout out ‘yes they can’.

“Children believe if you go for your dream it will come true while adults would say in the face of adversity he/she succeeded.

“We have got some great songs in the show such as ‘Life can get Ruff ’, Don’t stop dreaming your dream’ and ‘The Most wonderful Show’.
