OWNERS of a zoo in the countryside are trying to work out whether the theft of two raccoon and half a tank of petrol are linked.

Thieves broke into Tropiquaria, at Washford Cross, Williton, overnight on Monday/Tuesday and made off with Bowser and Wookie as well as the fuel from a parked car.

Troqiquaria dierector Chris Moiser said it is unknown whether the two incidents are connected.

He added: "The raccoons had only recently arrived at Tropiquaria and we have not yet had time to get to know them properly.

"Because the latest badger cull has just started we are obviously increasingly worried for their safety, as they are a little badger like in appearance, particularly in reduced light.”

While the animals are not dangerous, they are wild animals and if grabbed would bite to defend themselves.

Mr Moiser said that anyone who sees them should observe them, and if the opportunity arises, locked in an outbuilding before calling Tropiquaria on 07751-363198.

Anyone with any information sould call Avon and Somerset Police on 101 quoting crime reference number 5217197290.
