I would like to say thank you to the Save Our Falmouth committee for allowing us the opportunity to present our plans to solve student housing issues in the Falmouth and Penryn area at the group's latest meeting (Tuesday, September 5).

It was great to see so many people present who are active in their community and concerned for the future of their town.

We have spoken at ten public consultation events about Penvose Student Village (www.penvosevillage.co.uk) and have taken positive feedback from each one.

Parking was a key topic again, and while our site is the only student development with a real plan to help address the issue, I echo the message from the Save Our Falmouth team for anyone who is concerned to contact Cornwall Council and insist that parking needs to be a part of any proposed development.

Despite Falmouth University's best efforts to promote a green transport plan, we know from our consultations that students bring cars to Cornwall.

And with student numbers set to rise, we expect this issue to grow.

We look forward to building our relationship with Save Our Falmouth as we both continue to work to meet the housing needs for local people, reduce parking problems and protect valuable industrial space and jobs.
