TAUNTON Town have announced the signing of Mark Preece from Evo-Stik Southern League Premier side Hereford FC.
With Owen Irish, Chris McGrath and Matt Villis all out injured, boss Leigh Robinson was looking to make a defensive signing, and centre-back Preece, who has also played at Chippenham Town, fits the bill.
The 30-year-old was released by the Bulls on September 8, with the club and player agreeing to part ways due to increased travelling to Edgar Street, and the club having four other central defenders - although Preece had started five of six matches prior to his departure.
This Saturday sees the Peacocks travel to bottom side Bishops Cleeve (ko 3pm), as they look to cement their position at the league summit, where they currently lie second on goal difference to Bristol Manor Farm.
