WELLINGTON'S reward for winning 1-0 at Clevedon Town on Saturday is a home tie with Downton in the first round proper of the FA Vase.

Ian Bellinger's penalty was enough for Wellington to progress, earning the club £750 in prize money and setting up the match with the Wessex League Division 1 side on Saturday, October 21.

The winning side will earn £825, with the losing side receiving £270.

BISHOPS Lydeard built on their 6-0 romp at Calne Town by winning 3-1 at home to Sherborne Town in the Toolstation Western League First Division on Saturday.

Goals from James Quick (2) and Charlie Wilson gave Lydeard the three points, which see them sitting 14th in the standings.

Daniel Quirke scored Sherborne's consolation.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, ko 7.30pm) sees Lydeard travel to Wincanton Town, who are fifth in the table, before another away game on Saturday - at 17th-placed Malmesbury Victoria (ko 3pm).

IN the Somerset County League, Staplegrove remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division table after a 5-0 loss at Wells City.

Darren Maynard (2), Toby Jones, Ben Warren and Nik Healey were on target for Wells.

AT the other end of the Premier Division standings, Watchet Town sit second after a 2-1 win at home to Fry Club.

Tom Sparks and Damion Redman secured the points for Watchet, whose home match with Ilminster Town - scheduled for Saturday - has been postponed.

With Matt Heywood, Jamie Milton and Ryan Strong already missing, the Red & Blacks have exercised their right to call a game off due to keeper Adam Bishop and Chris Sully being selected for the County League representative squad to face Essex at Hengrove.
