THIS prime riverside site in Taunton has remained derelict since a supermarket chain relocated.
The former Lidl store in Wood Street closed when the company opened a new outlet a couple of hundred metres down the road.
The buildings were demolished soon after Lidl left in December 2015.
Prior to that Churchill Retirement Living announced plans for 60 retirement flats on the site.
But since the premises was bulldozed, the site has lain vacant - apart from a brief spell when a group of travellers moved in.
Following that incursion, the site was fenced in.
The County Gazette has contacted Churchill Retirment Living on a number of occasions to see if the firm still hopes to develop the site.
We have been told someone would get back to us, but we have as yet received no response.
