AN annual coffee morning run by Jane Fear, of Spaxton, raised £1,700 for Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy, which buys equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.

And Jane's efforts for the County Gazette-backed charity didn't stop there - she and her friends and neighbours collected a further £57.75 in 5p coins.

Other donations included £650 donation from the Richard Huish Lodge of the Masons; £186.83 from Collette and Paul Secker at car boot sales throughout the year; £128.50 from Puriton Bingo; and £5 from Sue Condick.

Collection pots were Taunton Country Market, Bath Place, £37.55; the Newsagents, Bishops Lydeard, £45.27; One Stop Shop, Galmington, was £49.14; The Half Moon, Stoke St Mary, £18.22; Trull Stores, £19.05; Tesco Express, Comeytrowe, £67.04; and Tesco Express, East Reach, £74.91.

There was £133.20, all in 5ps, from the Beacon Centre.

The week's total of £3,172.46 means £715,022.63 has been raised for SURE since it linked up with the Gazette.
