DOZENS of people attended a community open day at Taunton Masonic Centre, in The Crescent, to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the formation of the world’s first Grand Lodge, the United Grand Lodge of England.
Representatives of local lodges provided information about their activities and charitable fundraising, together with a display of Masonic artefacts.
To mark the milestone, Taunton Deane Mayor Cllr Hazel Prior-Sankey and her Consort Joanna Hallett cut a celebration cake and attended the presentation of a number of charitable donations, including a £4,300 cheque from Queen’s College Lodge to Taunton Association for the Homeless.
