MEET Tropiquaria's adorable new baby marmosets, who are just two weeks old.

These cute creatures were born to Tropiquaria's resident common marmosets Cubby and Mario, who are now hard at work rearing them.

Tropiquaria’s zoological director Chris Moiser said: “There is quite a story here as these animals came to us as rehoming/rescue subjects, and we are frankly surprised that they are such goods parents.

"With Marmosets, and their close relatives there is a major family commitment to rearing babies. The babies are born and then handed over to Dad or an older brother or sister who only hand them back to their mother for feeding.

"Typically if the parents have not seen and assisted in rearing their own younger siblings they do not know what to do and fail to rear their youngsters.

"As one of the parents came to us from a college and the other was an ex-pet we have been pleasantly surprised at their parenting abilities."

The marmosets home was built two years ago using money from the Hinkley C CIM fund awarded to Tropiquaria when the new A39/B3091 roundabout at Washford Cross.

The money was awarded as the roundabout was constructed just feet away from the old Marmoset and Tamarin House.

Mr Moiser said: "Without that new facility our tamarins would have been under amazing stress from the new, closer road, and we would not have been able to accept these animals for rehoming.
