A NEW greengrocers has opened in Burnham-on-Sea and it is already proving popular with residents.

Richard and Jax Gardiner-White opened GardinerWhites on October 2 and said business has been booming with the company taking between 800 and 900 customers a day.

“The response we have had to the store has blown us away, it has been fantastic,” Richard said.

“Jax and I met about six years ago when we were both working in the IT industry in Bristol.

“Earlier this year we knew we weren’t happy in our jobs and so Jax left her’s.

“I was made redundant in April and after chatting we decided to follow Jax’s dream of opening a fruit and veg shop.”

The pair sold their house earlier this year and moved to Burnham, putting all of their money into the business.

The shop, in High Street, sells a wide variety of items from producers across Somerset and Richard said supporting the county’s farmers is ‘very important’ to him.

“We pride ourselves on being an environmentally friendly business so we use brown paper bags to pack our produce for customers and remove the need for unnecessary plastic,” Richard added.

“We’ve had greatfeedback from customers and hope to see more in the future.”
