MEMBERS of Taunton Carnival Committee have decided this year's carnival WILL go ahead after a crunch meeting.
Committee members met tonight (October 16) to discuss whether the carnival would go ahead after a horrific incident at Chard Carnival last weekend.
A woman was left with life-threatening injuries after she was trapped under a carnival float at Chard Carnival on Saturday (October 14).
Marylin House, chairman of Taunton Carnival Committee, said: "We did have a meeting tonight and discussed a number of issues and safety concerns surrounding the carnival.
"I can confirm that the committee has decided the carnival will go ahead.
"We will be reviewing safety measures for this year's carnival."
