TAUNTON Town aim to set up a repeat of last season's Somerset Premier Cup final, as they begin their defence of the competition tonight at home to Toolstation Western League First Division side Ashton & Backwell United (ko 7.45pm).

The winner of tonight's first round tie - rearranged due to the Peacocks' FA Trophy replay at AFC Totton - will host Weston-super-Mare in the second round (ties to be played in the week commencing November 6).

Weston were Town's opponents in last season's final, as Leigh Robinson's side won 4-2 to lift the silverware.

After a hard-fought win at Swindon Supermarine on Saturday, and another tough-looking match at home to Winchester City this coming weekend, Robinson will take the opportunity to rest regular starters Ben Adelsbury, Shane White and Matt Wright.

Brett Trowbridge and Mark Preece have picked up injuries, but centre-backs Owen Irish and Ben Palmer return after their own spells on the sidelines.

Shaun Anthony, Tom Stone and Matt Trump, who played in the Southern League Cup win at Bideford, are set to start again, alongside assistant manager Michael Meaker.
