When the Whitings entered the Shearwell Prize Draw back in March, little did they know that they would be the lucky winners of Shearwell’s draw for a Te Pari Automatic Dosing gun worth £850! Sarah said “I was so surprised and pleased when I received the call!”

Graham and Sarah Whiting farm in partnership with their son, Will who has just come back home from college. Drenching and worming their flock of mainly Texel cross mules and their Angus and Limousin suckler herd, will now be precise for every animal without any hand strain. The accuracy of the drench gun will prevent under or over dosing, as each dose is calculated individually according to each animal’s weight.

Earlier this year, the Whitings invested in a new Shearwell stock recorder, to replace their original which they had for around ten years. The Stock Recorder enables them to make the most of Shearwell’s farm management software FarmWorks by SDL. The Stock Recorder with its EID tag reader and comprehensive data logger can be used to record breeding, births, weights, treatments, movements and much more. It’s great out on the farm - easy to use, rugged and reliable - and it’s great back in the office to help stay on top of record keeping.

Now Sarah and Graham can connect their Stock Recorder wirelessly to their Te Pari drench gun. In addition to the dose being calculated for each animal as they are weighed, treatments are also recorded. These treatments will automatically be added to their medicine book records when they download data from their Stock Recorder to FarmWorks by SDL software on their PC.
