A SIXTH form college in Taunton has been nominated as being one of the best in the country.

Richard Huish College has been selected by TES for the third year running.

The Times 2018 Further Education Awards celebrate the dedication and expertise of colleges who make a significant contribution to improving the skill levels of young people and adult learners.

The Ofsted 'outstanding’ college, on South Road, is the only sixth form college in the South West of England to be shortlisted and is up against seven other finalists bidding for the title.

Principal, John Abbott, said: “We are extremely proud to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award for the third year running. To be a finalist with so many other top sixth form colleges is in itself a huge achievement that is down to the students’ hard work and the commitment from all the staff at Huish. As a non-selective college, what we are most proud of at Huish is our ability to

work with students and help them achieve results beyond their expectations.

"To win would be well deserved recognition for all members of the Huish community.”

Finalists were announced on Friday, December 15 and the winner will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London, in February 2018.
